How good are we?
With a point guard, I believe a top team in the NBA. Rudy Gay is a star and Zach Randolph is a solid low post presence. Mark Gasol can bang down low and OJ Mayo can knock down shots. The problem lies with Mike Conley. He is not a starting point guard and does not have the poise to lead this team. Now this is a trade I believe should have been completed along time ago. Memphis Grizzlies send Hasheem Thabeet and OJ Mayo to the Minnesota Timber Wolves for Ricky Rubio and Wayne Ellington. The Timber Wolves get a monster step up from Dark Milicic in Thabeet and he would allow them to play both Kevin Love and Michael Beasily who both have defensive deficiencies. OJ Mayo would be a perfect fit in with Johnny Flynn and Wes Johnson. And the Grizzlies get their point guard they so desperately need to take them to the next level. They would also get a great shooter in Ellington who could come in be a great addition. This seems like the perfect trade for everyone involved. But this season they will make the playoffs. With the extra experience from team USA Rudy Gay will come back a much better player and this team will be a force to be reckoned with.
