Can this group of players be turned into championship team?
No. That is a simple answer that most people who know basketball could tell you. Charlotte is not a free agent hot spot and even if it was they don’t have cap room. Gerald Wallace is one of my favorite players. He will fight for every rebound, dive for loose balls, and be active on the offensive glass but he is not a superstar and definitely not a player you can build a team around. For those of you unfamiliar with his game he is harder working Lamar Odom. Stephen Jackson is also a good player but he is not young. This team is too good to get to a place where they could get a good player in the draft and not good enough to contend. So what does that mean? I say it means clean house and rebuild. Michael Jordan will not be a Mark Cuban like owner that will 90 million a year regularly. I say trade Stephen Jackson, trade Erick Dampier, and trade Boris Diaw. Jackson would have plenty of suitors and probably some teams would be willing to give up some promising players and picks to get him. Teams like Cleveland who wants his team to compete now. Teams like Detroit whose core is dwindling with age. Teams like New York. Clean slate of all the old expensive guys, do badly for a couple of years and see if you can come out with a winning team.

2009-2010 preview
The Charlotte Bobcats will once again be a mediocre team. They will squeeze in the playoffs and get demolished in the first round. The Eastern conference is extremely top heavy after the Decision of Lebron James so unless you have more than one star you are not going to compete. And the Bobcats have I would say two half stars with Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace. Dampier, if they keep him, is still a decent center, and DJ Augustin has shown some promise through the years backing up Raymond Felton. So there is a pretty good starting five. Former Duke star Gerald Henderson is sitting on their bench. He will score 20 on some nights, so there is a decent team here. But this team does not have the talent to compete with Miami, Boston and Orlando.
